Nine intrepid souls did a tour of the GV Health, Oncology Unit on Thursday, November 21 in a stop-over of their 1300 km bike trip from Adelaide to Melbourne.

In its third year, the ride is to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) in memory two friends of the group, Helen Hatzis and Mandy Herbert, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2017

The team plans to raise $150,000 to help fund a research project which aims to develop an early detection test for ovarian cancer. Cyclists left Adelaide on Friday 15 November and have so far stopped in Nuriootpa, Berri, Mildura, Euston, Swan Hill and Echuca.

Dr Jâvier Torres, director of oncology at GV Health gave the team a brief summary of the range of services that the unit now provides and how they are constantly expanding access to the community.
