CONGUPNA Primary School had a clean-sweep of the Australian-International Model Solar Challenge in Hobart last month. ‘All 4 Cylinders’ took out first place backing up from their first at state level. ‘River Rippers’ improved on their state third place to become outright second. And the ‘Surfing Kings’ have climbed from fourth into third place in what was a massive coop for the school.

The grade 5/6 students have showcased the pride of Congupna in what has become a highlight on the calendar of the small school. The students began working on their boats last term, with the regulation length 550mm, and the motor not exceeding $10. Then it was up to the students to design and build the fastest boat.

None of this would have been possible without the support of families and teachers at the school, and sponsors, Rotary Shepparton, CMV Truck & Bus, Byers Electrical, Caprice Paper, Shepparton Club and SPC Factory Sales, whose financial aid was key to getting the kids across the Bass Strait to compete.
