HOW much water does your household use each day? Most Victorians use an average of 169 litres per person, and while that might not sound like much, it can quickly add up across the home.

To help locals discover simple ways to save water, Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is opening the doors to The Blue House during National Water Week this October.

Building on the success of last year’s Let’s Grow Waterwise Gardens event, The Blue House takes the conversation beyond the backyard and into the home. Visitors will be able to walk through interactive kitchen, laundry, bathroom and garden displays, picking up practical tips and water-saving ideas along the way.

GVW General Manager Customers and Growth Jonno Bellette said water security remains one of the region’s biggest challenges, making everyday water-saving habits more important than ever.

“The Blue House has been designed to bring water-saving ideas to life. Visitors can explore every room, discover simple changes that can make a real difference and learn how every litre saved contributes to the future of our region,” Mr Bellette said.

The free, family-friendly experience will feature hands-on activities, educational displays, guest speakers and live demonstrations. GVW staff will also be available to answer questions about water use, efficiency programs and customer services.

The Blue House will be open from Monday, October 19 to Saturday, October 24 at 18-20 Fraser Street, Shepparton (formerly Intersport in the Maude Street Mall).

Further details, including opening hours and a program of activities, will be announced closer to the event.
