THE national lockdown over the past year made a lot of people look at where the things that we take for granted in our daily lives are coming from.
Over that time, Harvey Norman Furniture in Shepparton has been increasing its stocks of local made products to the point that now a major portion of what is on the floor is Australian made and more importantly, a lot is made here in Shepparton.
Becc Fischer who is the young proprietor of the Furniture division said, “The advantage of local made is that clients have the ability to have a bigger say in what the end product is like.
“There are a different fabrics and colours that they can select from to customise lounge furniture to their décor and again with the dining furniture, it is manufactured from Victorian timbers and they can select from half a dozen different stain finishes to match the rest of their living space.”
“When people buy these local made products, they are supporting local industries and the people from Shepparton who work there.
Both Becc from Harvey Norman Furniture and Rij from Harvey Norman Bedding also have an interest in supporting the community and have recently taken on sponsorship of the Shepparton Swans Netball team while the team at Harvey Norman Shepparton is a major sponsor of the Shepparton Chamber of Commerce Business awards.
