Since the early 1900s, the eponymous ‘corrugated tin roof’ has adorned hundreds of thousands of Australian homes and rural buildings in particular as the dominant and preferred material.

The sound of rain on a tin roof has been embedded into the character of country living.
But as times change, a different emphasis on style and colour took shape. With the advent of Colorbond and the expansion of the colour range, roll formed metal now affords a multitude of shapes and profiles to offer architects and designers a whole new range of options both in roofing and wall cladding.
Local firm Steeline have been manufacturing Colorbond materials in Shepparton since 1988 and have recently expanded their production facilities to double the workspace and have added three new rolling mills bringing the number to ten in order to increase the range of profiles produced locally.
Steeline Shepparton manager, Travis Ryan said, “Construction across the region is busy so it required us to look at how we could continue to service clients with the added demand and requirement for new products. Expanding the workspace is something we have been working towards for a number of years and this last year we have worked hard to complete the expansion of our business.”
With the expansion of the production area, the company moves into a new office and showroom providing the increasing number of staff members with a better work facility as well.
Steel cladding has come a long way since its first inception and things can only continue to look up as the new profiles begin to appear in new and refurbished construction across the region.
