The dams are rising

RAINFALL over the last month is giving a lot of people reason to be happy despite everything going on around them with the pandemic.

The amount of rain we have had is causing some of our rivers to swell to flood levels in part and is having great impact on the levels of our dams.

Eildon is still only at 62.9% of capacity but is the highest it has been this time of the year for the last few years.
Other storages in the system including Waranga Basin and Goulburn Weir are running between 75 percent and 86 percent capacity.

Overall, storage on the Goulburn Broken system is well above the volume carried at the same time last year.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, for the next few months until October we can expect above average rainfall across most of the state with most stream flows higher than usual for the same period.

Temperatures across the country are likely to be warmer as well giving farmers a good feeling for this year’s production figures.
Higher up the Murray, it is much the same with anything up to 10 percent higher storage than the same time last year.
