THE consistent weather and regular sunshine across the region make the Goulburn Valley perfect for entertaining outdoors. Above-average rainfall recently has local gardens looking beautiful. Here is how you can make the most of your gardenscape.

Your guests’ comfort should be your number one priority. If you’re entertaining through the day, ensure there are shaded areas and to provide sunscreen and water. For evening events, mozzie spray and citronella candles are essential.

Throwing a backyard party is a fabulous time to free your inner child and play some yard games. Lawn games like bocce or croquet are classics, but do not overlook fun activities like hula-hooping, blowing bubbles, or playing hopscotch.

Be inspired by the seasons and provide a seasonal menu. Summer craft beers or a bubbly gin and tonic are great alcoholic options.

Choose summery lemonades with fresh lavender or mint for a non-alcoholic alternative. Your local farmer’s market will stock in-season produce that is fresh and grown locally. Ask your vendor what is good and how they like to prepare ingredients for more inspiration.

Lastly, have a backup plan in case of rain, wind or in case it turns out to be a scorcher.
