SAFETY UPGRADES on the Watt Road Bridge in Mooroopna are on track to be completed in early December, with a number of upgrades having been completed already.

Completed so far:

  • Replacement of guard railing
  • Installation of steel girder cross-bracing and cross head supports
  • Replacement of damaged crossbeams supporting decking
  • Installation of new timber decking board
  • Replacement of timber kerbs
  • Number of bridge piles have been strengthened using an adhesive epoxy resin.
  • Pile repairs will continue, with some of the remaining works being below water level to be completed with the assistance of divers.

Contractors have been working with multiple teams across weekends to complete the essential repairs by the planned time in December.

Council wants to thank the community for being patient and understanding while these necessary works take place. The repairs will significantly improve the structural integrity and asset life of the bridge, after it is reopened to traffic.
