AS the new year unfolds, the camaraderie at Murchison Men’s Shed is reaching new heights in their recently developed space. More than six months after the grand opening, members are still buzzing with excitement about the possibilities their expanded premises offer.

Thanks to funding from the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), the Men’s Shed was able to transform their old quarters into a vibrant hub for community engagement. The passion of the members has breathed life into the new building, turning it into more than just a shed.

The site is now a hub contributing to the wellbeing of members and the broader community. Greater Shepparton City Council mayor, Cr Shane Sali expressed delight in the positive response, noting how the new facilities had sparked renewed enthusiasm among members.

“It is fantastic to see the positive difference which the new shed has already made. I look forward to seeing many new projects held in the space and many more positive relationships formed over the coming years,” said Cr Sali.

Dennis McCullagh, Murchison Men’s Shed president, shared his excitement about the impact of the new space, saying, “We have been able to move from a 22 square metre space to the new shed of 288 square metres. It is a great improvement with a lot more room for our members to relax and enjoy the facilities,” he said.

“The increased size brings with it room for local men to work on community projects, make new friends, hold information talks on men’s health, and learn new skills in a safe and friendly environment.”
