You can’t BEAT Australian soul food this winter

HUNGER really bites in winter and if you are like me, you will know that there is nothing quite so good as a superbly cooked meal, prepared with the intention of warming you up from the inside out. Having food presented as a treat for the eyes as well as for the taste buds also doesn’t hurt, and at Bill & Beats Café and Restaurant in Mooroopna, that is exactly what you will get.

‘Australian soul food,’ is how chef and restaurateur Chris Buzza describes his new winter menu and it is certainly full of delicious, satisfying choices that are perfect for the family and all manner of discerning foodies.

Having spent time working in a classic English pub in London, Chris aims to provide his customers with the same kind of relaxed atmosphere, ‘Where good quality food is done well’, he says. When asked about the stand-out choices on his extensive menu, Chris enthusiastically points out, The Mushrooms and The Fritters.

Selecting “The Mushrooms” dish will immediately gratify any patron with an appetite with its generous serve of sauteed mushrooms, sitting alongside two perfectly poached eggs, garnished with crispy prosciutto and finished with creamy hollandaise sauce. Presented a top toasted sourdough, this is a breakfast to please.

The Corn and Cauliflower fritters are also an eye-catching dish, with poached eggs decorously finished with a smooth beetroot yoghurt.

Complementing the extensive breakfast and lunch menu is also a fine selection of locally brewed beer and regional wine. The sweet and earthy aroma of freshly ground coffee also hits you as you enter before being promptly greeted by warm and welcoming staff.
