AS WE predicted in our season preview, this year looks like being one of the closest ever with upsets and close games galore in the first two rounds.
While it is too early in the season to take much notice of the ladder, seeing two of the bottom three sides of last year being one win and one loss just shows how even the competition is. Mooroopna had a fantastic win at Mansfield, who were tipped to finish high on the ladder this year.
One thing that looks like it may not change is the dominance of Kyabram. They were challenged in round one against Tatura who is looking to be a contender and demolished Shepparton last Saturday night in a replay of the 2018 decider. That won`t relieve the pain of last years grand final loss but you get the feeling only two weeks in, the Bomber machine is as powerful as ever and could go the season again without a loss.
At the other end of the ladder, a greatly improved performance by that Swans was pleasing to see and shows they will not be a pushover. Rochester is another winless side after two games and has been unlucky. They won`t be happy with their start and will look to bounce back quickly.
