Strong future for iconic truck business

100 years ago this year the Hartwig Family founded a small trucking business in Wagga Wagga.

Fast forward to today and Hartwigs Trucks – now in its fifth generation of family ownership and operation – is one of regional Australia’s premier heavy-vehicle retailers, servicing the Goulburn Valley, Australian Capital Territory and beyond from dealerships in Shepparton and Queanbeyan.

Hartwigs specialises in the transport industry with products from Western Star, MAN and Dennis Eagle Trucks.

For 100 years its ambition has been to create “Customers for life” and dealer principal Charlie Hartwig and the team are totally focused on delivering a seamless experience for their loyal customers.

For the 20-plus staff at the Shepparton dealership, that means attention is less on the business achieving such a significant milestone than delivering the first customer-sold units of Western Star’s exciting new X Series range of trucks to Goulburn Valley customers.

“Right now, it’s all about getting our new X Series trucks delivered to customers, so it’s all systems go with getting these trucks built up,” says Shepparton Branch Manager Simon Calogero. “We’re very excited to start seeing them hitting the road.”

Hartwigs delivered its first X Series models in August and strong demand for the new Western Star and other fresh products such as MAN’s TG3 will keep this key player in the Goulburn Valley heavy-vehicle industry busy well into 2024.

“We’ve got trucks starting to hit the ground now and we’ve got more stock coming, so it’s looking good for the future,” says Calogero.
