GREAT news for women’s health was recently announced by the Victorian Government. Shepparton is to receive a new sexual and reproductive healthcare hub, providing access to information and services on all forms of contraception, pregnancy options and sexual health.

The hub will also provide a range of vital services including facilitating diagnosis and management of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), menopause and endometriosis, and promoting local access to cervical screening and Breast Screen Service.

Based on current demand and availability, the new hub in Shepparton is one of three new hubs announced for the state, bringing the number in total to eleven, while new funding will also extend the operating hours and scope of services at existent hubs.

The new hub in Shepparton will ensure that women in the region will have access to early diagnosis of chronic conditions such as endometriosis that affect sexual function and enjoyment, fertility and overall reproductive health, which is critical to better long-term outcomes.

Minister for Health, Mary-Anne Thomas said, “Victorian women deserve access to quality sexual and reproductive healthcare regardless of where they live. The new hub in Shepparton, Morewell and Warrnambool is about ensuring regional women can get the care they need close to home.”
