The meat processing giant continues to be a staple in the community, providing much needed jobs with its Tatura plant. The new facilities at Tatura provide cold storage space for 20,000 lambs along with a new kill floor and amenities for the additional workers.

After completing initial expansion at the Tatura plant in 2021, the site has continued to expand with new employment amenities and boning room expected to be completed by the end of the year. Gathercole now operate a day and afternoon shift and every week they are loading several containers of fresh lamb to meet ships at the wharf.

General Manager David Cunningham said it was an exciting new project for Tatura and will no doubt serve the community well with its increased employment opportunities.

“If we are going to serve that market adequately, we need to be able to process more product and to do that, we need a larger facility that can handle up to 100 new workers and increased processing and storage space.”
