LAYLA Byrnes is exhausted. She’s juggling a demanding job as an anaesthetist, a disintegrating marriage, her young kids and a needy lover. And most particularly she’s managing her histrionically unstable mother, who repeatedly threatens to kill herself… in the brilliant new book, The Heart is a Star by Megan Rogers.
After being forced to postpone her visit to the region last year, Megan Rogers is on her way to the Numurkah and Nagambie Libraries and she has added a book signing event to the Mooroopna library.
The Heart is a Star, is Megan’s first novel after publishing a non-fiction book Finding the Plot: A Maternal Approach to Madness in Literature published by feminist publisher Demeter Press. The Heart is a Star is an engrossing and powerfully absorbing novel about the complicated and beautiful messiness of life and about how we can uncover our true selves.
Megan will be at the Mooroopna Library at 6pm Thursday, January 18. Numurkah Library 2:30pm Thursday, January 18. Nagambie Library 2:30pm Friday, January 19. If you would like to hear Megan Rogers speak about her book contact Goulburn Valley Libraries on 1300 374 765 or email mooroopna@gvlibraries.com.au. Copies of The Heart is a Star will be available to buy at the event and Megan will be pleased to sign copies of her book.
