Autumn is not normally a time for snake sightings, but that is what happened when a father and son were walking through Shepparton’s Botanical Gardens on Sunday, May 17.
On the opposite side of the lookout, about to make the descent the pair saw a meter-long Brown Snake half hidden amongst the rocks within arm’s reach of where they walked on the path. Despite the sunshine above it was a windy cold day, which made the sighting an unusual one.
The pair are no strangers to seeing snakes out and about on their regular walks, but it was a timely reminder to still be cautious while using Greater Shepparton’s nature trails.
