Chairman, Fruit Growers Victoria (FGV)
As Chairman of Fruit Growers Victoria for the past seven years, I’ve seen the Goulburn Valley and Shepparton region go from strength to strength. This region isn’t just known for its orchards, it’s the beating heart of Australian horticulture, producing around 30 per cent of the nation’s horticultural output. The rich soils, ideal climate and the determination of our growers make it a truly special place.
At FGV, our mission is to advocate on behalf of fruit growers, ensuring their voices are heard at every level of the industry. Our board of seven directors, made up of growers from across Victoria and independent directors whose skills contribute so much, brings together experience, passion and fresh ideas.

Despite the many challenges growers have faced in recent years, from extreme weather events and shifting market conditions to rising production costs, the spirit and determination of this region continue to inspire us.
We’re proud to support them through practical workshops, research, and timely information on issues like biosecurity and export markets. Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our third FGV Horticulture Conference here in Shepparton on August 20, 2026 – an event that brings together growers, researchers and industry experts.
At its heart, the Goulburn Valley inspires our work every day. It reminds us of the value of community, innovation and hard work, qualities that continue to set this region, and its growers, apart.
