Mayor, Strathbogie Shire

Strathbogie Shire – Welcoming you to real community, real opportunity

Strathbogie Shire, stretching from the Strathbogie Ranges to Nagambie Lakes and the Goulburn Valley plains, is a place of natural beauty, creative energy, and hardworking rural character. With towns like Euroa, Nagambie, Violet Town, Avenel, Longwood, Ruffy, and Strathbogie, we offer warm country living, thriving local businesses, and a genuine sense of belonging.

As Mayor, I’m particularly proud that in 2025 we’ve endorsed a new suite of strategic plans—including the Council Plan 2025-29, Financial Plan 2025-35, Asset Plan, and our refreshed Community Vision 2035—that put community voices and long-term sustainability front and centre.

Our Council is building on its recent community satisfaction boost. In the latest state-wide survey, overall performance jumped 12 points since 2024—a powerful sign that the steps we’ve taken are being felt. Public spaces received a score of 72, above the state average, and our customer service continues to be a strong point.

We’re also investing locally where it counts. Our 2025-26 Community Strengthening and Sustainability Grants have allocated over $161,000 to 14 projects across our Shire. These include sustainability upgrades, arts and heritage work, sporting facility improvements, and community development.

Advocacy is another area where we are focused and active. Whether it’s championing safer local infrastructure, or standing up for our farmers during tough seasons, council is committed to ensuring Strathbogie’s voice is heard at a State and federal level.

So whether you’re visiting, dreaming of making a move, or already part of this Shire—you’ll find here a region that values its heritage, honours its land, supports its people, and works hard to build a sustainable, connected, vibrant future.
