Linda Nieuwenhuizen

CEO, Committee for Greater Shepparton

As the world rapidly evolves, so are we. New models of education and learning are emerging—flexible, technology-driven, and deeply connected to industry needs. Investments are flowing into cutting-edge tech within our industries, health and education sectors, and agriculture, positioning us at the forefront of innovation.

Our region is embracing new energy generation, storage, and distribution systems that can drive growth while opening exciting opportunities for industry development and meaningful local careers.

Yet amid this transformation, one vital need remains constant: the world will always need to eat. While we proudly wear the title of Australia’s Food Bowl, Greater Shepparton is far more than fertile fields and orchards. In partnership with our neighbouring LGAs of Moira and Campaspe we are a powerhouse of food processing, but also for the expertise in manufacturing and services that transform quality raw product into premium supermarket staples.

We add value and create jobs that extend well beyond farming – in steel fabrication, animal health, packaging and freight, and increasingly in products derived from the components of our milk, fruit and other primary produce – products that are only now possible thanks to the investment in R&D, automation and technology.

This unique combination of production, processing, supply chain expertise, innovation, and education sets us apart. It fuels our economy, underpins our communities, and secures our place as a regional leader with national and global significance.

As we look ahead, our challenge is clear—to harness change boldly, connect learning with earning, and build on our heritage to shape a future where Greater Shepparton continues to welcome, sustain, and nourish.
