The latest state budget update has been released, and Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to see primary producers receive a rate freeze through the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF) for a further two years.
Council has advocated strongly for the much-needed relief, alongside Regional Cities Victoria, Rural Councils Victoria, and the Municipal Association of Victoria.

“In line with the strategic direction of our 2025-2029 Council Plan, which prioritises the needs of our agriculture and horticulture industries, our advocacy has contributed to securing a positive short-term outcome for farmers and growers,” said Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali.
“Although this is a win and a significant reprieve for many, we will continue the discussions and our ongoing advocacy for the best outcomes of our community.”
