International art pulls the crowds

Shepparton Art Museum’s world class exhibition Facing Modernity: Degas to Picasso continues to attract strong visitor numbers, drawing art lovers from across Victoria, interstate and overseas.

WORLD CLASS ART ON DISPLAY… SAM Artistic Director Danny Lacy with the multi-milion dollar Picasso works on display at SAM, part of Facing Modernity: Degas to Picasso, which offers a rare chance to also view icons including Matisse, Cézanne and Dalí in Shepparton. Photo: Deanne Jeffers

Pictured is SAM Artistic Director Danny Lacy alongside two of the exhibition’s standout works by Pablo Picasso: Femme à la résille (Woman in a Hairnet) (1938) and Mère aux enfants à l’orange (Mother and Children with an Orange) (1951). Featuring works by some of the most celebrated artists of the modern era, the internationally significant exhibition remains a major winter drawcard for the region, with more talks, workshops and events planned through to September 20.
