PRIMARY Care Connect will take its annual End Overdose event into the community for the first time this year, bringing people together in South Shepparton to raise awareness, reduce stigma and share practical information that could help save a life.
Held to commemorate International Overdose Awareness Day, the End Overdose community event will take place at the South Shepparton Community Centre on Thursday, August 27 from 12pm to 3pm, featuring a free community BBQ, guest speakers, activities, information stalls and practical overdose prevention education.
This will be the fourth consecutive year Primary Care Connect has held an event to mark International Overdose Awareness Day, but the first time the organisation has taken the event beyond its own services and directly into the community.
The 2026 campaign marks 25 years since International Overdose Awareness Day began, with this year’s international theme “25 Years On. Still Needed.”
Primary Care Connect’s End Overdose event is open to the community, with people encouraged to come along, enjoy the BBQ and activities, meet local services and learn more about overdose prevention.
