Dear Editor,
The proposed 30-unit social housing development to be built in the air-space above the Maude Street and Nixon Street council car park in the Shepparton CBD is a terrible idea and there are many reasons why this should not proceed. Why on earth would anyone build 30 social housing units next to a school (Shepparton ACE College) in the first place?
Here’s an idea, why don’t they build it on the old Shepparton Hotel site which is currently being demolished, this would be a far better option than building a multi-storey complex next to a school!
Everyone knows and understands that we need social housing but the thinking around this particular proposal defies logic and this proposal as it is, must be stopped.
