M1 Traffic and Labour – supporting the people behind the projects
WHAT began as an opportunity to provide traffic management solutions into Northern Victoria at the beginning of 2021 has evolved exponentially, in response to a growing demand, expanding into a comprehensive labour hire operation supporting everything from civil construction to cutting-edge solar farm developments.
While the original mission of the business was to provide a reliable traffic management partner within the region, in support of maintenance and infrastructure development projects; has since morphed into much more than just another service provider, with M1 Traffic and Labour Services now providing an essential link between skill shortages and a ready-to-go local workforce solution.
In just four years, the traffic management startup has grown into a thriving enterprise employing nearly 70 regular team members—a number that’s continually growing.
While M1 specialises in traffic management solutions, their services extend far beyond roadwork signs, fluro vests and safety cones, explained business owner Tyler Bonat.

“We now manage a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries, including utilities management for water, gas and electricity infrastructure, vital road maintenance such as asphalting and line marking, major construction projects, and drainage solutions. We even supported a film production in the area providing boots-on-the-ground crew at their community events,” said Tyler.
Having proven their adaptability across multiple industries, M1’s footprint now stretches well beyond the Goulburn Valley, servicing the surrounding regions and beyond, creating a subsequent, positive ripple effect which reverberates throughout the community.
The resulting social impact can be measured across many areas of the community in areas such as, provisional employment pathways, skills and certification attainment for willing jobseekers and opportunities for motivated school-leavers to gain work experience, mentoring and a range of transferable skills.
“Right now, we’re managing 20 plus active projects each day across central, north and northeast Victoria and into southern New South Wales,” added Tyler.
M1’s capacity to deliver reliable trade skills and certified site operators out of the GV, in support of essential services right across regional Victoria ads further testament to the strength of our region’s skills and businesses.
