CAMPASPE MAYOR

It has been a time of renewal in Campaspe Shire as we embrace the new normal and forge ahead. Our focus is on supporting local business, attracting funding for infrastructure, sustainability and boosting tourism.

A major milestone was the opening of a second crossing over the mighty Murray River, with the completion of the Dhungala Bridge.

Our projects continue full steam ahead with Stage 2 of the Echuca East Community Precinct redevelopment nearing completion. We look forward to the revitalisation of the Victoria Park boat ramp next year, with funding recently secured. Release of residential land in Echuca West has progressed and will enable 40 years of land supply supporting around 5,000 new dwellings.

Drawcard attractions including the Southern 80 Ski Race and the Winter Blues Festival returned, and we are excited to see our calendars fill with events. I praise the tenacity of the local business, health and hospitality sectors who showed resilience while facing staff shortages as we learn to live with Covid. I thank the community for supporting each other through this time with continued vaccination uptake.

Our competitive strengths include a strong and diverse agricultural and food manufacturing sector. This combined with our rich natural assets continue to make our region a sort after place to live, work and visit.
