New name for Shepparton Chamber of Commerce and Industry

SUPPORT for local businesses is one of the strong driving factors that has led to the multi-billion dollar Gross Regional Product output of the Goulburn Valley.

One such organisation that offers this support through its solid networking capabilities is the Greater Shepparton Business Network (GSBN), formally Shepparton Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

But the name adaptation and release of its prospectus isn’t the only exciting venture GSBN has achieved over the past 12 months.

President, John Anderson said, “After COVID-19, it was difficult to offer our regular events/training etc and so, what we did in this time was work with the council on the Maude Street Mall project and advocate for free parking on-street over December and January and also free all year round off-street parking.

“We then completed consultation and brainstormed what it was we wanted to see as a future for the Chamber of Commerce in Shepparton.

“After consultation with council, we raised the bar to become the Greater Shepparton of Chamber of Commerce and Industry to reflect the business needs of the Greater Shepparton Local Government Area. In doing so, we realised that the name was long and wordy and that the key was the term ‘networking.’ Hence the change to Greater Shepparton Business Network.

“We are achieving weekly increases in membership due to new businesses coming on board and former members signing up or continuing membership.

“It does feel good as a board that we can be relevant to business people right across the Greater Shepparton region.

“The driving factor and success of the GSBN is the hard working ‘refreshed’ board and the capability of our administration person,” John said.
