Cr Laura Binks – Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor

From the installation of our first public artwork, to nearing completion of the Nagambie Foreshore Walk, the past 12 months has been a huge success.

We have achieved some incredible projects – some of which have been a result of lots of work in the lead up, many have been collaboratively driven by community and all achieve to our Council Plan and Community Vision.

Further to capital works projects, Council also conducted mutually beneficial engagement opportunities for residents.

We were pleased to work with our community on several exciting projects this year including, but not limited to, the selection of new play equipment for upgrades at Avenel’s Jubilee Park, creating Local Emergency Action Plans for five townships, selecting the location for two new electric vehicle charging stations in Nagambie and much more.

This year, we have also proudly advocated to the Federal and State Governments on important projects for our communities. To help us through this process, we developed our Advocacy Ask document which details Council’s top five priority projects.

These include, roads and bridges including funding to deliver a solution for Kirwans Bridge, seeking the funding needed to complete the final state of the art drought-resilience Greening Euroa project, improving digital and telecommunications infrastructure across the Shire, reliable power supply, and building a nature-based play space.

We’re excited to be heading into the final part of 2023 as we continue to work on some huge projects including the official opening of the new Nagambie Foreshore Walk, rehabilitation of the Violet Town Landfill, the Nagambie Transfer Station Resale Shop and so much more.
