Our region continued to move from strength to strength over the past 12 months, and with Shepparton Art Museum welcoming over 110,000 visitors this year, we’re proud to help cement Shepparton as a leading arts and culture destination in Victoria.
We’re fortunate to be surrounded by a vibrant creative community, and we’re thrilled at every opportunity we get to collaborate with local artists to showcase the diverse stories and creative practices that are flourishing in the Goulburn Valley. In this past year, we’ve worked with more than 160 local creatives to present exhibitions, public and educational programs, and special events that bring people together and foster authentic connections. We’ve also brought together leading artists and business experts from across the state, enabling the sharing of knowledge to develop professional skillsets and support regional communities in building sustainable and fruitful creative practices.

Our exhibition program this year has showcased some of our nation’s leading artists whilst celebrating SAM’s significant ceramics collection. Our blockbuster touring exhibition Brett Whiteley: Inside the Studio, is set to be our biggest exhibition yet, with new audiences pouring in to visit SAM and Shepparton for the first time. Partnering with the Art Gallery of New South Wales to present an exhibition of this calibre is testament to SAM’s capacity to host the biggest touring shows in the country.
The success of SAM over the past four years has come from the support of our community, partners, sponsors, suppliers, and the people who have made SAM their meeting place, who take pride in what our region has achieved by sharing it eagerly with friends and family. Looking ahead to 2026, which marks the 90th anniversary of the SAM Collection, we are excited to present the work of some of the world’s finest artists to our community and visitors to the region.
