THE former Waranga Memorial Hospital in Coyle Street, Rushworth is in the process of being demolished. The demolition is being conducted in line with appropriate standards and will be completed by the end of this month.

Following demolition, the site will be offered to other Victorian Government Departments for alternate use and may be sold should no further use be identified.

GV Health is ensuring that trees on the site are being protected during the demolition, and that some bricks from the old hospital building will be salvaged to create a memorial wall at Waranga Health in High Street, Rushworth.

The Waranga Memorial Hospital was built in 1961 in memory of those who enlisted from the shire in the Second World War and paid the supreme sacrifice. The redevelopment is part of a $10M investment to revamp Goulburn Valley Health’s Waranga Campus, turning it into an encompassing site for all of Rushworth’s health and aged care services.
