AS a sports lover, I was delighted to discover that Regional Victoria has been awarded the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
I was proud that this was the idea of the Greater Shepparton City Council.
I am so disappointed that Shepparton has missed out on any of the events, with hubs going to Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Geelong.
Commonwealth Games are in the remit of the Victorian State Government.
Didn’t Shepparton’s state member Suzanna Sheed tell us that by voting independent “we would get our fair share”?
This is another example of this being a Furphy.
I’m sure the same claim was made by Mildura’s Independent Member where they’ve missed out as well.
This only proves once again just how easily overlooked by government and ineffective Independents are.
