SINCE announcing it will close its doors, the community has come out in support of Shepparton Camera House and it’s near 40 years of providing vital camera services to the region.
“The photographic industry has changed dramatically,” reflected store owner, Ian Bugg. “The online sales have killed the hardware industry, while phones and iPads have killed the processing industry.”
“Back in the heyday, we would process something like 2,500 to 3,000 rolls of film a month and have at least three people employed full-time in our film processing division – now we have one.”

Since 1978, Camera Houses nation-wide have slowly closed their doors. Once Shepparton Camera House officially shuts up shop, there will be only four left in Victoria.
“I think everyone will be disappointed that this is how it’s come to be. With the death of camera stores, you lose all that specialised photography knowledge our staff have and specialised services that are only available at our store,” said Ian, praising his staff’s dedicated service, who collectively have over 103 years of technical experience between them.
The news of the closure is bittersweet for local photographers and optic-enthusiasts, with huge sales of up to 50 percent off selected lines.
However, the closure of the business will spell the loss of photographic services that Shepparton Camera House has provided for decades.
Shepparton Camera House is located at 179 Maude Street, and online at camerahouse.com.au, or phone 5821 3855. Please see page six for details of Shepparton Camera House’s final sale.
