A GROUP of locals are putting the final preparations in to join other Honda CT110 postie bike riders as part of the three-day Great Murray River Postie Bike Alpine Adventure.

Starting on Friday, February 22, riders will head to Myrtleford for breakfast before heading to Albury via Yackandandah, Tallangatta and Bellbridge. The afternoon takes in Mt Beauty and Tawonga Gap. Saturday’s ride is a long loop to Falls Creek, Omeo and Mt Hotham.

The last leg on Sunday is to the top of Mt Buffalo and back to Mystic Paragliding launch site, before lunch at Wandilagong.

Shepparton locals Andrew Prentice, Tom Garrett, Ian Tuena and Paul Murphy have teamed up to do the ride and represent the Shepparton area. They have been very busy fundraising to reach their target of $10,000, which they say they are well on the way of achieving.

Andrew said, “We’re taking part as it is a cause that touches a lot of people. My brother-in-law, Chris McPherson was taken by prostate cancer and we have taken part in the Murray Meander for many years and this is just a carry on from that.

“We’re confident that we will reach our fundraising goal.

“We’re very grateful for the support from the local community in helping to reach our goal.”

Tom said, “We’ve all been touched by breast cancer or prostate cancer. No matter who you are, somebody that you know well has been affected by cancer.”
