MEMBERS of the community are invited to an eye-opening exhibition where they will be asked to view the art through a different lens. The G.R.A.I.N. Store community gallery is proud to be hosting an exhibition about vision care and eye health titled ‘Making the Invisible Visible.’

Presented as part of a broader project co-presented and financially supported by the Vision Initiative, which aims to prevent avoidable blindness and reduce the impact of vision loss for communities across Victoria, the exhibition explores the idea of looking, seeing and discovering what may not be immediately obvious.

Visual artist, Kerry Handwerk said, “It was good to look through the demonstration glasses and see what a visually impaired person would see. I have a family member with a visual impairment and this was an instructive experience for me to see how she views the world.”

In a first for Vision Initiative they are working with The G.R.A.I.N. store to explore artistic approaches to eye health with adults aged 40+ as their particular target group, not just to receive the message but to act on the message: have you had your eyes tested lately?

Opening events for ‘Making the Visible Invisible’ will take place on Thursday, May 16. Vision Initiative will host an informative, interactive and fun presentation on eye health and the importance of looking after your vision from 10:30-11:30am (including morning tea). Later at 2pm, the exhibition will officially open, featuring some of the artists talking about their pieces.

To book a spot for the info session, RSVP online at www.trybooking.com/BCMQH or contact Kristen on 0410 952 647.

The G.R.A.I.N. Store is located at 24 Blake Street, Nathalia. For further information, visit their website at www.thegrainstore.org or search for The G.R.A.I.N. Store on Facebook and Instagram.
