Downer has launched a $15M asphalt plant in Shepparton, delivering a major boost to regional infrastructure and employment. The facility has already created 40 jobs and partnered with more than 20 local businesses, strengthening the local economy.
Sustainability is central to the plant’s design. It uses recycled materials and energy energy-efficient processes, reflecting Downer’s commitment to a circular economy. These innovations reduce reliance on virgin materials, cut emissions, and improve energy efficiency—delivering long-term environmental benefits for regional Victoria.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Shane Sali, commended the new facility, saying, “It is amazing how far industry has advanced. Downer is known for their strong commitment to a sustainable future, taking a lead role in the circular economy.
“I have followed this project since the very first application stage, and it is fantastic to see it now in operation. This $15 million investment is a welcome commitment to Shepparton — both now and into the future.”
Daniel Parise, Downer’s Victorian Regional Manager, highlighted the collaborative effort.
“We worked with over 23 local contractors to deliver this facility. Our focus now is partnering with council and community to build better roads across regional Victoria,” he said.
The Shepparton Asphalt Plant marks a significant advance in innovation, sustainability, and regional investment—driving growth and resilience across the community.
The new impressive plant is located at Downer’s, Apollo Drive, Shepparton site.
