With the Goulburn Valley region being the heart of the state’s production industries, it is imperative that the transport and construction sectors are serviced to ensure the economic input and output continues to thrive.

Beginning an apprenticeship in 2001 with Tony and the team at HM Transport Maintenance, owner of Hamlyn Mechanical Repairs (HMR), Clint Hamlyn’s knowledge and passion for the industry led him to open his own business toward the end of 2017.

Fast forward to 2022 and after talking with Tony about the potential sale of HM Transport Maintenance when he retired, Clint and his team knew the timing was right to make it happen and in May this year, the hand over was officially completed; HMR and its 10 staff, moved in to 21 Lockwood Road and have not looked back.

Clint said, “HMR started out with just myself towing a trailer around carrying out mobile repairs. And with support from my wife, Rochelle, as the customer base grew so did HMR.

“With over 30 years in the industry, Tony and HM Transport Maintenance had a large base of loyal customers and suppliers that we thought our busy workshop could complement. With previous knowledge working for Tony and the team we had grown into it seemed like the perfect fit.

“We now have a well-stocked spare parts division, along with a four-bay workshop to service all our customers. We also have two fully mobile service vehicles that are used for onsite repairs when attending the workshop is not an option.

“In August of 2022 we added another service to offer our customers by starting Pirtek Shepparton. Pirtek has 106 branches Australia-wide and now Shepparton has its very own. We are slowly building our stock to support the automotive/transport industries along with the civil/construction industries.

“The majority of our customers are locals and that’s what makes the job and industry so special and different.

“I believe it’s very important that businesses like ours exist. It gives people options for repairs, maintenance and parts. We also employ locals and support other local businesses. Businesses like ours are an important part of the larger business ecosystem,” Clint said.
