So much country to explore

There are 726 national parks in Australia. They cover over 300,000 square kilometres of land, more than 4 per cent of the total area of the country.

Australia is home to 11,761 recorded beaches, spread over an ever-changing 50,000+ kilometres of coastline. That’s so many beaches that it would take you roughly 226 years to see them all if you visited one per week. Australia also has 8,222 islands within its maritime borders.

There are 21,865 named mountains in Australia, the highest and most prominent is Mount Kosciuszko, NSW. Furthermore, there are seven regarded ‘Natural Wonders’ in Australia. These are:

1. The Great Barrier Reef, Queensland.

2. Uluru, Northern Territory.

3. Cradle Mountain, Tasmania.

4. Daintree Rainforest, Queensland.

5. Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory.

6. Twelve Apostles, Victoria.

7. Fraser Island, Queensland.
