Zaidee’s gifts live on

FOR AN AMAZING CAUSE...Shepparton Club will be collaborating with local charities for the next 12 months, an effort which gives back and spreads awareness of the amazing foundations in our community that support local people. This month, they have selected ‘Zaidees Rainbow Foundation’ to be the charity of choice for their raffle. IN December 2004, seven-year-old Shepparton local Zaidee Rose Alexander Turner passed away from a Cerebral Aneurysm. Her father Allan Tuner has actively been Zaidee’s storyteller in her honour for almost 18 years now, founding ‘Zaidees Rainbow Foundation’ the year after her passing.

Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation aims to inspire discussion and help raise awareness of the immense benefits of organ and tissue donations. Zaidee’s gift saved the lives of seven other people, with two four-year-olds receiving her corneas, a mum who had been on dialysis for six years receiving Zaidee’s kidneys, an eight-year-old receiving her liver, two newborn babies receiving two heart valves and a baby receiving a patch of Zaidee’s heart.

An incredibly hard discussion to have when thinking about the death of ourselves and our loved ones, Allan wishes for everyone to have a think about their decision to be organ and tissue donor, and let their choice be known.
