Construction in the Goulburn Valley is frantic. Builders and subcontractors are working eight days a week trying to keep pace with the new work being made available.
According to several sources in the industry, a lot of it is being driven by the Federal Government Homebuilder Grant that is soon to expire, having been extended for an additional three months from December.
According to the Federal Treasury, an additional $18B in construction work has been supported by the Homebuilder program and kept more than a million workers in a job during the height of the pandemic.
Like all good things, it comes to an end on April 14.
Various industry bodies are now seeking the government continue the grant to maintain the impetus it has generated.
New home sales rose by 60.5 per cent across the nation in the three months to February compared with the same period last year according to the Housing Industry Association (HIA).
