A leader for the new age of hospice

THE new premises will be well looked after by the incoming executive manager, Wendy Ross, who steps into the top roll next Monday, August 8.

Wendy is a registered nurse who has a well-rounded history working across public health sectors, community health, not-for-profit, and government health services.

“Hospice has been very fortunate in its leadership, with past executive managers who have all had their own unique expertise, from Carmel Smith, Faye Hosie, and our current interim executive manager Kaye Gall,” said GV Hospice Care committee president, Jeanette Powell.

“We look forward to our newly appointed executive manager Wendy Ross joining our team and continuing to take Hospice into the future,” she said.

During her time at Nathalia, Cobram and Numurkah (NCN) Health, Wendy oversaw palliative care patients, and she says providing this nature of care is something she is deeply passionate about.

“The new Hub is a wonderful, positive space and all the staff and management should be very proud with what they’ve done,” said Wendy.

“As well as working with patients, while at Moira Palliative Care I oversaw the op shop, so I’ve seen the value of community support and not-for-profit services in this space as well.

“I’m eager to continue the fantastic work that GV Hospice provide, and I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact this new community asset will have. Being able to welcome the community to use this new development is incredible.”

Wendy said her vision for this new era is to grow the services through the new development to continue to meet the community’s needs.
