Cr Laura Binks Strathbogie Shire mayor

Council acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we strive, the peoples of the rivers and the hills of the Strathbogie Shire region who walked these lands for generations. We pay our respects to the elders of the past, and the speakers of the first words, who lived in harmony with this country.

In the past 12 months we worked on several projects including streetscape upgrades, adapting a comprehensive Climate Change Action Plan, initiating conversations around January 26 Australia Day celebrations, adopting a structure for the rollout of the Victorian Government’s four-bin system and much more.

In the first six months of 2022, we conducted 32 projects on Share Strathbogie, an online portal, which received 2,862 community contributions. Australia Day Celebrations Review, Four-Bin Kerbside Service, Nagambie Splash Park, Whroovale Estate Open Space and Euroa Community Cinema (monthly community choice voting) received the highest engagement.

We also advocated to Governments on important projects. To help, we developed our Advocacy Ask document that details Council’s top five priority projects.

These include our bid to host rowing events on Lake Nagambie at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, funding to complete the drought-resilience Greening Euroa project, improving telecommunications, reliable power supply and infrastructure, and building a nature-based play space.

We look forward to the final part of 2022 as we continue to work on some huge projects including the construction of the Nagambie Foreshore Walk, rehabilitation of the Violet Town Landfill, the Nagambie Transfer Station Resale Shop and many more.
