PUBLIC swimming pools occupy a special place in the Australian consciousness. The Raymond West Pool opened as the largest chlorinated pool in the Southern Hemisphere. Constructed in 1953, it was named after Raymond West, who was born in Shepparton in 1897. Raymond served as the town clerk from 1923 to 1960.
These photos are said to have been taken around 1965.
